Most dogs need some sort of training. The ideas below will ensure your dog is trained in no time.
It takes a while for a dog to get comfortable in a crate. Don’t take it too fast; introduce the dog at his own pace. Once they have grown accustomed to being in the crate with the gate open, try closing the gate and feeding them small treats through the crate. In the beginning it is important to only leave the dog in the crate for a few seconds. After a while you will be able to leave them in the crate for longer amounts of time. If the puppy becomes upset, you may be progressing too quickly.
Good behavior means rewards! If your pet successfully completes a task, then reward him only if he/she is calm. While you might be happy with this accomplishment, your excitement plus theirs can cause this situation to get out of control. Stay calm and bestow rewards calmly too.
Do not tie up your dogs too closely. The leashes or chains can become intertwined, causing harm to one or more of the dogs. In the worst case, a large dog might be able to strangle or crush a smaller one, entirely by accident, while trying to free itself.
When attempting to house train your pup, keep in mind that whatever goes in, must go out. To have your dog on a consistent bathroom schedule, have him or her eating quality food about two or three times every day, at the exact same time. You can then schedule your walks at the right times to prevent unwanted accidents.
Always call your dog’s attention by doing the same thing. Always start your commands with his name. This will get his attention, and then you can tell him what to do. Using your dog’s name lets him know you want his attention.
Though your dog may be seriously misbehaving right now, fear not. You can train most dogs as long as you know what to do and exercise patience. The advice you’ve read here should get you off on the right foot.
